Our Values & Platform

Accountability & Transparency

Residents should be able to easily understand decisions that affect their neighborhood, property, and quality of life.☑ We will prioritize clear communication through multiple channels, including social media, e-newsletters, text message alerts, and printed materials available for those who need more traditional formats.☑ We will improve the relationship between residents and local government by offering public in-person and virtual office hours.
Meeting information, agendas, and minutes will be available in a timely manner and written in plain language whenever possible and shared on all possible communication channels.
☑ We will provide updates and discussion of major development projects at open meetings to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Preserving Our Rural Character

Residents choose Andover Township because of its natural beauty, rural character, and strong sense of community. Protecting our waterways, aquifers, and other natural resources must remain a priority as the township grows.☑ We will encourage land-use decisions that carefully balance economic opportunity with long-term environmental sustainability.☑ We will do a better job of showcasing the farms, outdoor recreation opportunities, local businesses, and natural resources that make our community a desirable place to live, work, and visit.☑ We will explore incentives that promote the redevelopment and reuse of existing commercial properties rather than expansion into undeveloped, environmentally-sensitive areas.☑ We also believe in maintaining community standards that contribute to safety, appearance, and neighborhood pride. We will address neglected properties, improving lighting where appropriate, and consistently enforcing existing ordinances help protect property values and enhance quality of life.

Small Business & Sustainable Growth

We want to create an environment where existing small businesses can grow and succeed, connect with one another, and contribute to the township's long-term prosperity. Growth should reflect Andover’s character and be compatible with our current infrastructure.☑ We will support responsible development that strengthens our tax base while protecting our natural resources and property values.☑ We will establish a Small Business Advisory Committee to provide feedback to the Township Committee. This Committee will be encouraged to review local procedures to identify barriers for small and home-based businesses to make Andover a more desirable place to set up shop.☑ We will collaborate with neighboring communities to identify successful economic development strategies that promote small business.

Fiscal Responsibility

Responsible budgeting requires regularly evaluating spending, identifying opportunities for savings, and making decisions that protect taxpayers while maintaining essential services. A strong financial future depends on a willingness to make thoughtful long-term decisions rather than relying on short-term solutions.☑ We will review major contracts and recurring expenses on a regular basis to identify potential savings. New spending proposals will include a clear explanation of costs, funding sources, and any long-term financial impacts.☑ Residents deserve clear communication about township finances. We will present budget information in a more accessible, resident-friendly format rather than relying solely on technical documents.☑ We will explore grant opportunities and shared-service agreements where they make financial sense and do not reduce service quality.

Strong Schools, Strong Community

Our schools are one of our community's greatest strengths and one of the reasons Andover Township is such a desirable place to live. Andover Regional School District ranked number one in Sussex County on the New Jersey SLA, testing that evaluates student proficiency in language arts, mathematics, and science.☑ We will encourage more collaboration between township government and local school leaders to identify opportunities for partnership and shared resources, and responsibly work together for the benefit of students and families.
